267 Days to Go: 1/2 Marathon

A PR today. Went out fast and then crashed hard at the end. I was surprised at how difficult the last two miles were. I was really laboring at the end. It was definitely not a consistent run.

274 Days to Go: Good Week of Running!

Best half marathon pace for me! Still hurts to run that far. Not sure if that will ever change. I am thinking I might need to train at further distances to race at this distance. Just doing this distance week after week is good. Listened to a great sermon my Carl Ellis on the soul dynamic and oppression in black history.

275 Days to Go: Speed Barriers

Not recording all my workouts here. Getting a bit lazy. Did a tempo run today with my best results yet. I was encouraged that I actually felt pretty decent. I am getting my bike this weekend so i am pretty excited about that. Can’t wait to actually try it out.

291 Days to Go: Weights and Pool

Really got crushed today with squats. Haven’t lifted weights on the legs for at least 8 years. Felt like I was doing it for the first time. Swam for about 20 minutes afterwords.

295 Days to Go: 13.1 at Record Pace

Not too impressive for the average marathoner, but for me, this is breakthrough territory. Was reasonably comfortable despite the faster pace. I realize that the shorter tempo runs are really helping me.

298 Days to Go: Failing on the Tempo

Tried to hold a 7:45 for 6 miles today and BARELY did it. It was painful. I am tempted to blame the heat and stomach issues, but I think the real reason is I am just not quite there yet. Bummer. My schedule might be a bit too aggressive. I am not sure yet. We will just have to see.

299 Days to Go: Longer Run

Ran at a quicker pace today for my long run. It’s amazing how difficult it is to run even a little more quickly. I was pleased with my average pace overall. I feel the shorter tempo runs are really helping increase my pace on the longer runs. Listened to a good sermon by R.C. Sproul.

300 Days to Go: Gusty Bike

Rode out by Pleasant Valley today on most of the bike course for the 1/2 Ironman. Very nice course, but certainly a bit lonely out there. Also, in the pm it is very windy.
