54 Days to Go: Horseshoe, Sweet, Emmett
Up at 4:30am to do the grueling 5 hour ride (I have officially reached the point in my training where for these last 4 weeks I start taking half days on Monday). Breaking into new territory today. Rode the Horseshoe Bend, Sweet, Emmett, Boise loop. It was an absolutely incredible ride. It was so beautiful. The spring air and the smell of sage brought me back to when I was a kid riding my mountain bike through the foothills. It was a major blessing. I was intimidated to do this ride, but it wasn’t as hard as I expected. I had the first glimpse today that it might just barely be possible to do the ironman. I still say those words with fear and trepidation, because anything can happen on race day. Nutrition went well. I realize I need to eat lots of calories (i.e. 400-600/hr). The more I eat the better I feel but its hard to carry that many calories on your person. Filled up my water bottles at the natural spring in sweet. That was kinda cool. Listened to about 5 sermons ranging from OT survey to the book of Kings, to Samuel to the life of Christ. Very productive ride.
The elevation profile was interesting to view as well.
Compare that to the ironman course in CDA.
