124 Days to Go: Olympic Training
Woke up at 5am and headed out the door very tired. Amazing that today’s training day is equivalent to my last Olympic distance race. Swam for 60 minutes, biked for 60 and ran for 60. My last race I could hardly walk after I finished. Today, I felt really strong in all three disciplines. Slow but steady results. Got very hungry as I only had two bananas to eat. The recommended caloric intake for iron-distance racing is 600 calories/hour. Two bananas is about 200 calories for 3 hours. I’m sure I was minutes away from bonking. Read some more of the book I’ve been enjoying on Pain (that sounds kind of funny). I am struck by the complexity of pain and God’s unceasing wisdom in creating it. I also am boggled by the fact that it doesn’t really exist and yet when I am experiencing it, it is the most real thing in the world. Very strange. Very awe-inspiring.
