149 Days to Go: Long Bike Indoor
Wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. The worst part of the actual workout was I only had one orange and so I bonked pretty hard at about 2:15.
Memorized 80 Greek words and read several chapters in John Piper’s book to pastors entitled Brothers we are not Professionals. I really, really appreciate his perspective on what it take to be a pastor. When I read him I am constantly having thoughts like, “Yeah, that is exactly what I always suspected but why doesn’t anybody ever say those kinds of things.” The classic example of this today was his criticism of seminaries in assigning so many books to read. The whole way through seminary I just thought, “This is so unhelpful; skimming 1000 pages in a week does nothing for my heart.” It is just so freeing to have someone say to you, “Slow down and absorb it,” the very thing I am eager to do.
